Spring Break is coming and that’s a great excuse for a well-deserved getaway, whether you have kids or not. You may recall our conversation about packing for a business trip. So, this week, let’s turn our attention to the flip side of packing – for leisure.
Some of the key guidelines on packing for a vacation are the same as packing for a business trip:
1. Pack items that mix-and-match to create all the outfits you need, with as few pieces as possible. If you can fit everything in a 22” suitcase too carry-on, go for it. It will get you through the airport quicker and you’ll avoid the risk of losing your luggage. Vacation is no fun waiting for your clothes to arrive. However, we should point out, that leaving some extra room in your bag to add those inevitable purchases you make, it always a good idea.
2. Fold and then roll your clothes. It actually helps reduce wrinkles.
3. Don’t forget your chargers.
Hopefully, the trip is longer than a typical business trip, though, and we certainly need very different things. That’s where things can fall apart for some. You’ll be relaxing and hanging out by the water, sightseeing, getting in some exercise, or taking a fun excursion during the day. At night you may be going to a relaxing, casual dinner or something a bit dressier and more refined. You may even hit the town for some drinks, and a little local culture. And you want to look appropriate for it all.
Packing efficiently, with pieces you’ll actually wear on your trip, starts with building your travel day outfits. Ensuring you are wearing some key pieces that will work for you once you get to your destination saves space, and makes travel comfortable. You can be stylish and comfortable at the same time, after all.
