Even at work, summertime means some changes. Some offices implement flextime and half-day Fridays. Some implement a Casual Friday dress code on Fridays – or, all week long. So, that’s what we’re talking about this week. What is “Casual Friday” appropriate? With more and more work places taking a less formal approach to what is acceptable office dressing, even with that memo from HR explaining the rules, lines can easily blur. And with so many of us working in non-traditional environments and telecommuting these days (over 40% more Americans work from home than they did 10 years ago), it becomes harder to judge what will keep you looking professional and appropriate. Sure, our work is what we should be judged by. But the fact is, how we present ourselves is equally important. Therefore, when in doubt, we generally believe in erring on the side of more professional. And that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice any casual comfort. A linen shirt, a great polo, a light sport coat, and the right pants will have you looking as good as you’ll feel.
