J Brand
Despite their high profile collaborations with avant-garde designers Proenza Schouler, Hussein Chalayan, and, this season, Christopher Kane, J Brand has carved a niche in the market with their low-key and understated designs. The cult denim line which began in 2004 as a brand for women (expanding into menswear in 2008), is acclaimed for its impeccably-fitting cuts with contemporary washes and careful finishing. Part of the magic behind their superior fit is that J Brand creates their jeans to follow the contours of one’s body, rather than firing off cookie-cutter patterns. Minimalists will appreciate that this Los Angeles company crafts their jeans with a subtle and discreet stamp of their logo -- a characteristic that’s hard to come by in premium denim. It’s a denim collection designed for those who want to wear a style - not a label.
[Ed. note: We’re pleased to announce that J Brand’s women’s line will be gracing our racks, in addition to the men’s line, next fall.]
