When we think of a “lady in red” what comes to mind? Sexy? Confident? Maybe a little sassy, with that knowing smile that she’s in charge? Bring it on. Never be intimidated by red…embrace it. Who doesn’t remember Audrey Hepburn in “Funny Face” and Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman” in their gorgeous red gowns? Red doesn’t have to be a bold statement, though. There is a shade that works for everyone this season. They are running the gamut from orangey-reds to classic, true red to the deepest of burgundy. They’re all being used as a pop to black or black and white, too, which we absolutely adore for it’s graphic, yet urbane look. Sophisticated silhouettes take on a feminine, though strong, feeling when done in red. Even a little accent of this seasons hottest color is enough to show that you are a woman who takes charge. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

This is the perfect shade of red – not too bright, not too deep, not too pink or orange. If we could find a lipstick this color, we’d be delighted. But at least, J. Crew has figured out how to make it in a soft merino wool sweater that has a stylishly easy fit. The side zips can be open, as shown, or closed for a bit more of a fitted look. We love the vertical ribbing on the sleeves to give this sweater some added dimension. It looks great with skinny jeans or pants.

We are so happy that Diane von Furstenberg has brought back the ballerina-style wrap sweater. If someone is going to make a wrap sweater popular again, surely it’s the woman known for her iconic wrap dresses.
