Clothes & Conversation: Women's Fashion Tips
No. 2 Pencil Skirt
Sold by: J.Crew

Fit Guide
Why is it a Find? J.Crew’s No.2 pencil skirt is one of our favorites, with a slim and tailored shape that looks great on most every figure. And this paisley patterned version highlights the fabulous shades of pink and blue that are so fresh this season.
Wear it with: J.Crew shows this skirt with a fine blue striped shirt, a great way to mix 2 prints. But it looks great with a simple white, blue, or black top too, thanks to the array of colors in the pattern. A top with a banded bottom – or anything that hits at the high hip or above – looks great untucked, thanks to the straight fit of the skirt. And nude or black shoes are an easy finish, though feel free to have some fun and go with a metallic as J.Crew shows through the ‘shop it’ button.
Fit Tip: This skirt is cut true to size in J.Crew’s modern - sizes 000-16, Petite and Tall. The cotton has a touch of stretch that, along with the wider waistband, ensures a beautifully smooth line and lovely fit.
Alternatives: Madewell uses a similar paisley pattern in a silk peasant top that perfectly highlights the colors AND the laidback boho style of the season.

Spring’s Pretty Color Palette

In the fashion world, when the new colors of the season are released, there is a lot of talk about WHY. Iced Coffee brown is reflective of nature’s inspiration; Peach Echo has a very “accessible” feel…you get the idea. And while we appreciate the background, really we just get excited about fresh hues and how they will look on. So what are they? InStyle did a great little recap to see all the colors of the season at a glance.

Some of these colors, like the beautifully soft Rose Quartz blushy pink and Serenity pale blue look gorgeous in everything and on everyone. Shades that flatter most every skin tone, they are neutral enough to be worn head-to-toe, and still can pack some lovely warm weather color. It makes perfect sense that Pantone (the company that created the standardized color system designers use) has named them both the colors of 2016.

Soft tones of grey and tan work as great base colors for the season, and white certainly isn’t going anywhere as a warm weather basic. And these are key to grounding the rest of the color stories that fall into 2 camps: 1. Bold colors in bold buttercup yellow, vibrant green, and coral tinted reds; 2. Soft and mid-tone palettes of peach and aqua. Both color stories have some fabulous throwback inspiration, yet look utterly new when they’re paired with the neutrals (or denim) and worn in modern, updated styles. So that’s where we’re focusing our Finds this week.

This week’s Fashion Finds, “Spring Color Finds: Calm & Peaceful to Playful & Bold”, showcases our top Finds that showcase the season’s newest colors in utterly wearable styles. And, as always, we’re providing tips on what to wear them with, as well. Let us know what you think through the comments section below and on social media.
