The end of one season and beginning of the next is always such a tricky dressing time- you are ready for something new, but the weather usually isn't. So while you begin to daydream of Spring, what are some great pieces you can buy for the upcoming warmer weather that you can actually start wearing now?
During these transitional times of year, there are a couple of guidelines we usually adhere to:
*
Layer. There's no reason to pass on a beautiful sleeveless dress or blouse in a light, breezy fabric. Adding a blazer or even a chunky wool/cashmere sweater will give you the warmth you need and ground a new Spring piece to look stylishly appropriate for the current time of year.
*
Add color. For Spring, there will be a lot of whites, yellows, pinks, blues, and greens. And they look great with your go-to Winter neutrals - black, greys, navys, and olives. So that top in a new pop color will look great with core, year-round pieces - timeless pants, your favorite pencil skirt, jeans, and leggings.
*
Invest in versatile fabrics and silhouettes. This is also the perfect time of year to update the basics. Your black pair of pants in year round wool or ponte (a denser rayon fabric blend that uses stretch and is tightly woven to hold its shape) may need replacing or a little style update. Same goes for adding a new pair of jeans or leggings to your arsenal. Even a pair of ankle booties can transition to Spring with a cute dress or your jeans and a tee. Those are all essentials that you can wear in the often messy, slushy Winter weather. And they’ll have new life once the sun is shining.
