Evolution is the name of the game this Spring season, taking existing styles and bringing them to a wonderfully new level. Influences from the athletic world evolve, as do military and nautical inspirations, giving refinement to these recurring trends that make them truly worthy of investing in.
Evolution is also apparent when it comes to silhouettes. This past season had a big focus on off-the-shoulder necklines. Now, they get more sophisticated with draping necklines, one shoulder, and peek-a-boo shoulder details. This offers much more versatility to the look, so every lady can enjoy the trend with confidence. (And should – it’s super flattering, no matter your size.) Sleeve detail also continues in importance, with highlights on wider cuffs and trumpet sleeves. While cropped pant lengths continue to trend, they are updated with wider, fluid legs and interesting finish details, like piping and buttons. Raw and cut hems continue to be big for jeans, whether you choose a cropped flare, skinny, or flare style. The side slit (splitting the seam by the hem) further evolves the look, giving even skinny jeans a little volume at the cuff to beautifully balance a ladies figure and flash some ankle for the warmer weather. These all look just as good with flats as they do with heels. On that note, ballet flats and mens-inspired oxfords have certainly returned, and thankfully, so have practical block heels and wedges. Add some ankle detail to really show off your legs.
Dusty blush pinks of this past season evolve for a Spring pick-me-up, and round out an assortment of pretty colors. Think your favorite rainbow sorbet from your childhood. Vibrant, yet soft, theses yellows, pinks, mints, and lilacs will put a bounce in your step. And evolution even shines through in pattern, with florals, stripes, ginghams, and plaids looking new again in colors and shapes of the season.
The updated look of the season is great news for things already hanging in your closet. This week’s Fashion Finds,
“20 Spring Wardrobe Must-Haves”, will easily coordinate with many of the core pieces you already own, and will give them a new, updated look for the season ahead.
